GOLDEN, Colo. -
Metro State sophomore Janelle Lincks (Thornton, Colo./Horizon H.S.) ran two provisional qualifying times for the NCAA championships on Saturday at the Mines Twilight Open in Golden, Colo. She had half of the team's four provisional times on Saturday after the men's and women's distance medley relay teams each qualified on Friday.

Lincks won both of her races--the mile and the 3,000 meters--and both of her times put her in the top 10 on the NCAA Division II performance list this season. Her time in the mile of 5:06.79 converted to 4:57.64, the sixth-fastest time in Division II this season. She then blew away the field in the 3k with a time of 10:13.76, less than a second away from her school record. Her time converted to 9:53.85 for altitude and track size, the seventh-fastest time in Division II this season.

Lincks was joined by Amy Johnston (Salinas, Calif./Salinas H.S.), who finished second in the mile. Johnston's time of 5:14.58 converted to 5:05.19.

Men's runner Chris Davis (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) ran the team's other qualifying time on Saturday, also doing so in the 3,000 meters. His time of 8:51.28 converted to 8:32.60 as he placed third in the race.

Belle Kiper (Denver/George Washington H.S.) had a record-breaking day in the women's triple jump, leaping 11.16 meters to finish fifth, breaking the previous school record of 10.74 meters.

Other top finishers on Saturday included Judith Chavez (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) and Sorelle Watson (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.), who placed fifth and eighth, respectively, in the 400 meters. Jordan Seitz (Englewood, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) finished fifth in the women's 800 meters in 2:32.81.

In the men's 200 meters, Metro State finished first and second as Justin Jimmerson (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) topped the field in 23.10 seconds and Glen Taylor (Centennial, Colo./Grandview H.S.) came in second in 23.18. Alex Montoya was seventh.

Metro State will compete next weekend at the New Mexico Classic.
