SPEARFISH, S.D. – Metropolitan State University of Denver outdoor track and field competed at the RMAC Championships on Friday. The conference meet is being held at Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
Karina Sanchez (Downey, Calif./Warren H.S.) started the competition on Friday in the 10,000 meters and finished 11th in 39:59.12. Joey Bender (Aurora, Colo./Grandview H.S.) ran the 10k in 33:20.31 for the men.
In the prelims of the 1,500 meters, Lauren Silacci (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles H.S.) finished sixth in 4:47.96 to qualify for the finals. Rachel Shimakukuro was 14th in 4:50.07. Silacci also made the finals of the 800 meters by finishing eighth in 2:19.42.
Erik Boss (Laramie, Wyo./Laramie H.S.) was the men's team's top finisher in the 1,500 meters, placing 16th in 4:04.06. Ivan Rangel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) had the team's best 800-meters time of 1:59.54.
Said Moreno (Westminster, Colo./Westminster H.S.) ran the 400 meters and finished 10th in 49.87.
In the 100-meter prelims, Julian Dulaney (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) was sixth in 10.64 and will compete in the finals.
Competition will continue at the RMAC Championships on Saturday.
