ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Metropolitan State University of Denver's indoor track teams finished their first day at the New Mexico Classic on Friday.
Nick Kadlec (Niwot, Colo./Silver Creek H.S.) finished second in the men's 3,000 meters, highlighting the day for the Roadrunners. His time of 8:35.90 was just two seconds off the winning time.
Joey Bender (Aurora, Colo./Grandview H.S.) finished fourth in the 3k in 8:53.86 and
Brandon Krage (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) was seventh.
Sprinters
Jon Clarke (Paterson, N.J./East Stroudsburg H.S.) and
Julian Dulaney (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) finished 26th and 27th, respectively, out of 66 runners in the 200 meters. Clarke finished in 22.04 and Dulaney in 22.06.
For the women,
Victoria Alcala (Salinas, Calif./Everett Alvarez H.S.) placed 17th in the 3k in 10:43.08.
Evonna Ramirez (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley H.S.) was 18th and
Kari Sanchez (Downey, Calif./Warren H.S.) was 25th.
Morgan Myers (Thornton, Colo./Horizon H.S.) ran personal bests in the 200 and 400 meters.
Both teams will compete again on Saturday.
