PUEBLO, Colo. - Breanna Hemming (Kiowa, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) ran a provisional qualifying time and was one of six medalists for Metropolitan State University of Denver at the season-opening CSU-Pueblo Open on Saturday.
Her time of 4:35.16 was five seconds under the provisional standard and was the best in a field of 15 runners.
Victoria Alcala (Salinas, Calif./Everett Alvarez H.S.) was also a medalist on Saturday, winning the 5k in 18:15.94 in a field of 11 runners.
Morgan Myers (Thornton, Colo./Horizon H.S.) finished third in the 400 meters in 59.96 and both she and
Sarah Johns (Denver, Colo./Dakota Ridge H.S.) ran sub-27.00 in the 200 meters.
Jamilah Tanae Rashid (Denver/Lincoln H.S.) finished second in the 800 in 2:23.73.
For the men,
Robert Carlson (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield H.S.) missed a school record by one-one hundreth of a meter and won the long jump at 6.79 meters. He also finished second in the triple jump.
Julian Dulaney (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) won both the 100 meters and the 200 meters in 11.06 and 21.96, respectively.
Ryan Boucher (Longmont, Colo./Lyons H.S.) was a champion in the 800 meters in 1:54.36.
Michael Warburton (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) and
Brandon Krage (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) came in second and third in the 1500 meters.
MSU Denver will be back in action next Saturday at the CSM Front Range Open.
