LEXINGTON, Ky. – The MSU Denver volleyball team has risen to No. 3 in the AVCA NCAA Division II national top 25 poll, matching the program's highest ranking since the 2003 season.
The Roadrunners picked up one more first-place vote and now have seven, and they have 989 poll points – 17 behind No. 2 Angelo State (Texas).
Washburn (Kan.) is the new No. 1 after beating previous No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney last week. Nebraska-Kearney dropped to No. 4.
MSU Denver beat a fourth straight ranked opponent when it won 3-1 at then-No. 24 Colorado Mesa on Thursday before sweeping Fort Lewis on Saturday.
MSU Denver's all-time high ranking of No. 2 was achieved in the Oct. 28, 2003 poll.
The Roadrunners were also No. 3 several times during the spring season, though many teams did not play in the spring and thus weren't eligible for the poll.
MSU Denver hits the road this weekend for matches Friday at UCCS and Saturday at CSU-Pueblo.
