DENVER – MSU Denver will double down on its golfing pleasure Sunday, as all 36 holes of The Southern Colorado Open will be played at Walking Stick Golf Course.
"It will be a long day," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said.
It will be the first tournament for the Roadrunners since playing four tournament rounds in six days in Arizona from March 7 through 12.
"Practice has been good," Ferguson said. "We've been our playing quite a bit and talking about some better course strategies."
MSU Denver has played Walking Stick multiple times in years past.
"It has some reachable par 5s, which suits us well, and other than that it's just playing smart on the 3s and 4s," Ferguson said. "It could get pretty windy but the girls usually play well in the wind."
The Roadrunners are seeking improvement over their fifth-place finishes of their last two tournaments, particularly when compared to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes.
"Hopefully we'll have a much better finish conference-wise than the last two tournaments," Ferguson said. "The girls know this course well so we should be more comfortable."
