AZUSA, Calif. – MSU Denver distance runners posted some of the fastest times in program history on Saturday at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
In the men's 5,000 meters,
JJ Ramey turned in a 14-minute, 25.51-second clocking that makes him the third-fastest individual in the event in program history, while overall his time ranks fifth in program history. He finished fourth in the Open C Division of the race at the gigantic meet. His time would have been the second-best in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and 31
st in Division II, prior to the weekend.
In the same division,
Brenden Sands ran 14:55.92, which makes him the program's ninth-best individual in the event. He finished 65
th.
In the women's Open A 1,500,
Mia Salas became the third-fastest individual in program history the event by running 4:37.38. She placed 168
th in her division.
In the women's Open C 5,000,
Taylor Engram ran 17:35.55 to become MSU Denver's third-fastest individual with the fourth-best overall time. Her 23
rd-place time would have ranked seventh in the RMAC.
Later, in the Open C Division of the women's 1,500, both
Audrynn Street and Engram added to their impressive weekends. Street ran a 4:42.83, while Engram finished in 4:45.88. Street is now the program's seventh-fastest individual in the event, and Engram now ranks eighth. They finished 48
th and 87
th, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State,
Maya Ries finished 20
th in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.23 seconds, while twins Jordan and
Jonathan Duran placed 15
th and 16
th, respectively, in their division of the 1,500 with times of 4:03.93 and 4:04.15, respectively.
