Track & Field: Competition Continues In California

MSU Denver competes against top athletes in California

California – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's and women's track and field teams competed in three meets in California on Friday.        

The Roadrunners were led by senior Lauren Silacci (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles H.S.).  Silacci ran the 1,500-meter run and posted a personal best time of 4:34.28.  Junior Rachel Shimabukuro () competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and improved upon her time from a day ago.  Shimabukuro posted a time of 11:33.91.  Senior Karina Sanchez (Downey, Calif./Warren H.S.) posted a time of 4:53.77 in the 1,500-meter run.

For the men, senior Erik Boss (Laramie, Wyo./Laramie H.S.) ran the 1,500 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays.  Boss ran a time of 3:59.35.  Junior Jason Carey (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral H.S.) also competed at the Mt. SAC Relays.  Carey ran a time of 14:27.04 in the 5,000-meter run to notch an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

The Roadrunners will wrap up competition at in California on Saturday, April 16.
